Economy continues rapid growth

BEIJING, Mar. 20 - A National Bureau of Statistics spokesman says that
China's economy will maintain its rapid pace of growth during the next
five to ten years.
Zheng Jingping said in Beijing Saturday that China's economy will
increase at a rate of eight to nine percent over the next five to ten
years.
The spokesman said the three factors supporting the rapid economic growth
are the high deposit rate and the large amount of direct foreign
investment, productivity advances as well as political and social
stability.
He pointed out that the high deposit rate will end within the next 15 or
20 years. However, the Chinese government has noticed the problem and is
taking measures to ensure the economy remains balanced.
He also noted that the economy has grown smoothly during the first two
months of this year.
