The Beijing Creative Cultural Festival is being held to celebrate the
50th anniversary of the 718 Factory - which spurned the 798 Art Zone. The
festival, running from September 28 to November 3, is themed, Culture
Creates Wealth, Creativity Presents Value. The program of activities
includes exhibitions, performances, seminars and forums, with more than
50 galleries and institutes participating.

The 718 Factory was constructed during the 1950s under the design of
Chinese and German engineers. Its architecture is now of historical
significance and is protected as a cultural relic.

The two German engineers will meet their Chinese peers at the opening
ceremony, with entertainment to be provided by famous Berlin jazz band
Link Together.

A creative architectural art exhibition gathers domestically influential
and classical landmark architecture in the form of photographs, models,
sculptures and installations. The industrial design exposition, composed
of an exhibition and a forum, explores topics concerning design
innovation and product value. A Chinese and German art exhibition is held
by Chinese artist Li Jiwei and German artist Via Lewandowsky. A
photography exhibition, with the theme of Passing Through 50 Years, shows
the course the factory has taken, and the changes it has undergone,
through photography and a documentary.

Accompanying the themed shows, the participating 50 art organizations of
the 798 Art Zone will entertain visitors with a variety of exhibitions.
