www.chinanews.cn 2005-02-24 13:41:58
Chinanews, Feb.23 - It was learned from the Ministry of Railways that
encouraged by the China's increasingly open policies, a private
enterprise is negotiating with the railway authority and both parties
have made some progress in their talks. At present they are preparing and
planning a new railway.
If an agreement is finally signed on the dotted line, it would be China's
first railway project funded partly by private capital. The railway would
be the last infrastructure industry to permit private capital to
participate. It is learned that the project under consideration is the
Quzhou-Changshan Railway in Zhejiang Province. It would be built with
private capital in partnership with the Ministry of Railways and the
local government.
The Quzhou-Changshan Railway is 45 kilometers long with an investment
budget of 775 million yuan. It is part of the railway from Jiangxi's
Jiukiang to Quzhou,Zhejiang.
