Dechin is a 57-year-old woman in Damxung She does everyday chore like any
woman there. What makes her different is that she can speak Han Chinese,
and even write in it, as she studied in the Central University for
Nationalities.

Dechin's mother took part in the construction of Qinghai-Tibet Highway,
which used to be and sill is the major passage for Tibet to communicate
with the outside world. Her father was a PLA soldier, who contributed a
lot to the peaceful liberation of Tibet.

Dechin's husband is nearly 60 years old, but he still works near the
Qinghai-Tibet Railway. "Working hard is a good tradition of Tibetan
people," said he.

There are five sons in the family, and Dechin feels proudest of the
fourth one, Renzhub. Renzhub is very famous in the village, as he earns
at least 200 thousand to 300 thousand yuan by offering high-way
transportation service every year. Renzhub has a very strong affection
toward the newly-complete railway, as it will help him toward a better
life.

Renzhub is not satisfied with transportation service only. He is planning
to build more and more new houses, thus in the future he could start a
very good family hotel in the village. "There will be more tourists
coming to Tibet, thanks to the railway. I will make my hotel one of the
best," said he.
