On April 4th, four tourists wandered across Turpan's Kumutage Desert. In
an effort to attract more Chinese and foreign tourists Turpan has
invested 568 million yuan (US.7 million) to improve its tourism
infrastructure in the last four years. Kumutage Desert has been equipped
with tourist service centers and parking lots. The underground
multi-function exhibition hall and star-rated toilets of the Flaming
Mountain Scenic Spot have also been perfected. In addition, buses between
ten scenic spots, such as Grape Valley, the Flaming Mountains, and the
Thousand-Buddha Cave will start operation before May 1st.
