Chinanews, Jan 25 - The recruitment of volunteers for the 2008 Olympic
Games will start in the first half of this year. When the 2008 Olympic
Games commence, the number of people involved in both the Beijing
Organizing Committee for the 2008 Olympic Games (BOCOG) and the Beijing
Olympics Broadcasting Corporation (BOB) will reach 4,000.
The Beijing Olympic Games needs large numbers of local and overseas
talents. For example, the BOCOG currently has 19 departments and over 300
staff. More than 20 are foreign experts and consultants. By 2008, the
BOCOG will have expanded to more than 30 departments with over 4,000
staff. Many of the posts need to be filled by foreign experts in various
fields. The BOB, founded last year, also requires a large number of
professionals, and will have 4000 staff by 2008.
Beginning in the first half of this year, the recruitment drive will be
carried out through press conferences as well as on the internet. After
the applicants are selected, they will participate in certain training
sessions. It is said that the Beijing Olympics will require 80,000 to
100,000 volunteers in total, including both professionals and ordinary
citizens acting as volunteers. Overseas talents and the children of
overseas Chinese are invited to join in the training and participate in
the Beijing Olympic Games.
