BOCOG begins search for Olympic sponsors

www.chinanews.cn 2005-04-01 13:22:15

Chinanews, Apr. 1 - Yesterday afternoon, more than 100 representatives of
over 50 enterprises from home and abroad gathered at the Asia Hotel to
attend the Promotion Conference on Sponsor Plan of the Beijing 2008
Olympic Games. At the conference the Beijing Organizing Committee for the
Olympic Games (BOCOG) announced that it has officially begun seeking
worldwide sponsors for the games.
How will the Committee judge what enterprises qualify? Yuan Bin, director
of the Market Development Department of the BOCOG, said that, according
to the principle of commercial privacy, she could not reveal the sum
necessary to become a sponsor. But she disclosed that most enterprises
attending yesterday's conference were industry pacesetters and almost all
were famous domestic and international brands.
The sponsor categories released at this time include household
appliances, office equipment, dairy products, logistics, express
delivery, tire production, internet service, communication network
equipment, travel /reception, beer, etc. Yuan disclosed that the
categories would likely increase depending on need, and that the number
of sponsors would basically equal the number of cooperative partners for
the Beijing Olympic Games.
